Our Youth Resource Officer

Agnieszka Polak

As part of our team of Community Resource Officers, Epilepsy Ireland also provide services and support to young people living with epilepsy via our acting Youth Resource Officer, Agnieszka Polak.

Agnieszka provides services and supports to young people and children living with epilepsy (aged 8 – 24) and oversees many of our specific events for young people living with epilepsy – such as Get ChARTy, Teen Time, SibShops and our Young Adult meet up – visit the 'Events' section of our website for more about these events and groups.

To access the services offered by Agnieszka, you must first link in directly with your local Community Resource Officer. This is to ensure that you and/or your family are aware of the full supports and services that we can offer to you on your respective journeys with epilepsy and to collect the relevant parental/guardian permissions (where applicable) to access the services offered via our Youth Resource Officer.

You can find details of your local Community Resource within this section of our website.

Information about our YRO role

As part of our Strategic Plan for 2022-2026, a key aim was to “Identify and fill gaps in epilepsy services needs”. In the development of this aim, the need for dedicated resources for young people living with epilepsy was identified. In addition, a further strategic aim identified was the need to “increase and diversify our income”.

The creation of the Youth Resource Officer role at Epilepsy Ireland has been the culmination of our organisation pursuing both these key strategic aims. We were able to offer pilot work through a grant from the Toy Show fund and the development of a dedicated position has made been possible thanks to a grant from Angelini Pharma. We want to thank the team at Angelini, who from the outset recognised the importance of providing a dedicated resource for young people with epilepsy in Ireland.
