Support Groups

We offer support groups both online and in-person (in larger population areas) and have offerings for both adults with epilepsy and parents/carers of children with epilepsy.

For adults with epilepsy, as a person progresses on their journey with epilepsy, they learn more about the condition and can unfortunately experience barriers owing to their condition. As a person navigates these barriers, what can be beneficial is hearing from others who may be in a similar situation or who may have direct experience of what a person may be going through.

Similarly, for parents/carers, when supporting a person with epilepsy on their journey, there can be many questions as you aim to support your loved one with this part of their life. As they enter new phases of their life, there can be changes to their condition and new challenges that can arise.

This is why we offer support groups for our community – as connecting people with fellow members of the epilepsy community can be very beneficial.

About our groups

Online groups for adults with epilepsy and parents/carers are offered on a national basis – and are scheduled for both mornings and evenings to best suit people’s availability. Additionally, we offer in-person groups or community meetups in the larger population areas. These groups will be advertised on the events section of our website. Visit the ‘Events’ section of our website for upcoming dates.

Remember..

With our groups, it is important that there has been previous contact with your local Community Resource Officer. It is important that there has been previous engagement in order for us to best facilitate the experience for all attending the support group. At particular points in your journey with epilepsy, individual direct support from our team may be more appropriate rather than a group setting. If you would like to contact your local Community Resource Officer, you can find their details by visiting the ‘Our Local Service’ page on our website.
