February 10th marked International Epilepsy Day and while we hope you were busy becoming clear on seizure first aid and our key words of TIME, SAFE, STAY, we understand that you may missed some of the coverage that was secured to help promote the important message of TIME, SAFE, STAY and epilepsy awareness.

Luckily, we were keeping a close eye on what was happening on the airwaves and even further afield, so this piece highlights **some** of what you might have missed!

Digital Out of Home Adverts 

If you were out and about over the last few days in Jervis Shopping Centre, Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre, Omni Shopping Centre in Dublin; Douglas Village Shopping Centre in Cork; Parkway Shopping Centre in Limerick; Galway Shopping Centre or Eyre Square in Galway – you might have seen a familiar face of Gareth looking back at you with our key message of TIME, SAFE, STAY being promoted in these centres with a busy footfall!

  • Irish Times with Emma
    In the lead up to #Epilepsy Day, one of the faces of our campaign, Emma spoke to the Irish Times about her lived experience of epilepsy and some of the seen and unseen challenges it can bring. You can read the article by visiting the ‘Irish Times’ website.

    For #EpilepsyDay, the Irish Independent spoke with Alex Kelly about her journey with epilepsy, and all the ups and downs she has experienced as a result. An incredible read, you can access the story in full by visiting the Irish Independent website (paywall).

  • The Irish Mirror & RTÉ Drivetime with Deputy Eoghan Kenny
    Ireland’s youngest TD and person with epilepsy was busy on #EpilepsyDay, sharing his experience with the Irish Mirror – and speaking with RTÉ Drivetime later in the day to share his experiences with epilepsy and outline support for Epilepsy Ireland's campaign to make Ireland’s schools seizure safe.   • Oireachtas Support for TIME, SAFE, STAY
    Deputy Kenny wasn’t the only elected representative showing his support for our campaign with Ministers and Deputies from all parties and none taking the time to share the important TIME, SAFE, STAY message with their constituents and supporters. Thank you to everyone who shared.
  • RTÉ News Digital feature
    Across their social channels and website, the RTE News Digital team featured a video with Emma, one of the faces of the campaign, speaking about TIME, SAFE, STAY. You can watch the video by visiting the RTÉ News website 

Other Coverage

  • Our campaign was featured on National and regional radio bulletins across the country yesterday – helping amplify the message of TIME, SAFE, STAY. Visit the Highland Radio website or visit the Newstalk website for an example of this in action
  • In the lead up to #EpilepsyDay, we issued specific media statements to each county in Ireland’s local media – with many covering the important message of TIME, SAFE, STAY. Visit the Leitrim Observer website for an example of this in action.
  • We also issued a National Media statement for International Epilepsy Day, with this not only being covered on the airwaves (as mentioned above) but also online and in print. Visit the Irish Independent website for an example of this.
  • Epilepsy Ireland's team of Community Resource Officers were also out and about with information stands in hospitals and venues across the country - raising awareness of epilepsy in a range of different settings, like they do every day!
