My Moving Brain is go! We are delighted to be teaming up with our colleagues in FutureNeuro, the Neurological Alliance of Ireland, Dún Laoghaire - Rathdown (DLR ) Sports Partnership for a series of events focusing on Brain Health and to highlight why neurological conditions should not be a barrier to participation in sport.
From an Epilepsy Ireland perspective, this event and future My Moving Brain Events (dates TBC) will present a fantastic opportunity to educate those involved in sports clubs locally that epilepsy is not a barrier to participation in sport. There have been instances of people approaching our service who have not been included in a sporting activity due to their epilepsy. Often, this is simply down to a lack of awareness of the condition and when simple safety measures are put in place, a person with epilepsy can fully participate.
At this event, our media volunteer Emma Beamish will be sharing her lived experience of epilepsy and how she managed this alongside being an international cricketer for Ireland!
There will also be a varied range of speakers in attendance to share their expertise and experiences as well as parallel sessions – including Professor Norman Delanty providing a neurologist’s perspective on participation in sport and an opportunity to try some of the sports which will be discussed on the day! The full agenda is listed below.
This event is open to people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities so please come along and join us for the inaugural event of the My Moving Brain Series! We look forward to seeing you there! Further informatio on the event can be found by visiting FutureNeuro's Eventbrite page or by scrolling below.
