Peter Mark Salons celebrating Petermarkathon 2024

The 2024 Petermarkathon is officially in the record books, and we would like to once again express our sincere thanks and gratitude to the Peter Mark Salon’s across the country who showed incredible support for our work over the past week.

Anyone who follows our Instagram page will have seen the inventive and intuitive ways that individual salons came up with raising our funds – with raffles galore, fancy dress, sponsored cycles and even multiple sightings of two very famous brothers from Manchester as part of an Oasis themed event in one salon!

Peter Mark salons were fundraising across the past week to help continue the vital support services which are offered across Ireland by our local Community Resource Officers – a service which is depended on by people with epilepsy and their families across Ireland and a service which responds to circa 20,000 contacts every year.

While funds raised are being tallied and counted across this week - and with some salons still continuing their fundraising efforts -  it is clear that Peter Mark salon’s have already made an impact through their awareness raising efforts. Our team and our volunteers have had the pleasure of visiting Peter Mark salons over the past two weeks and we have been blown away about how much salon staff had educated themselves about epilepsy, in order to educate their customers as part of the Petermarkathon.

We have been told stories across the week about how salon regulars have revealed their own personal connections to epilepsy, helping start a wider conversation about the condition as a whole.

While the funds raised as part of the Petermarkathon will be vital, the awareness that it has already raised is priceless.

A special word of thanks to our volunteers who popped into visit their local Peter Mark salons to share more about their personal connection to epilepsy and share with staff how important the Petermarkathon was for Epilepsy Ireland and epilepsy awareness.

When final funds raised from the Petermarkathon are tallied, we will share this on our social media channels but in the meantime, we would like to thank everyone at Peter Mark for their incredible support and their customers for supporting their local salon’s efforts. You can learn more about the type of work Peter Mark have helped to support by visiting the ‘Petermarkathon 2024’ page on our website.
