For people with epilepsy who are currently being affected by the shortage of the Anti-Seizure Medication Rivotril 0.5mg, we know that many of those affected will be aware that the scheduled return date of the medication has been listed for some time as "early February 2023".
You can see our previous update on this matter by visiting the 'News' section of our website.
As of yet, we have not received any confirmation of resupply and we know this is causing further concern and anxiety amongst those who have been impacted by this shortage.
Epilepsy Ireland has followed up with both the Health Products Regulatory Authority and the manufacturer of Rivotril seeking further information and confirmation of when resupply can be expected. We are currently awaiting a reply.
Unfortunately, the only advice which we can provide to any person taking Rivotril and who may be running out of supply is to speak to your medical team as soon as possible. Any decision to potentially change or switch medications is a clinical decision and it is of the utmost importance that you speak to your medical team on this. If you are not attending a specialist, please contact your GP and access specialist advice via them.
As soon as we have any further information regarding this shortage, we will provide an update on our website.
