Mid-Morning Mindfulness 17.1.25

Calm Lake
17 Jan 2025

Epilepsy can be a condition that causes the mind to race and common bywords of living with the condition are stress & anxiety – be it as a person with epilepsy or as a family member or carer of a person with epilepsy.

These Mindfulness sessions with our Community Resource Officer, Cliona Molloy, will help you discover the technique of mindfulness to help you better manage some of the challenges that can be associated with epilepsy (like the ones mentioned above) and will encourage you to pause and check in with yourself through a blend of self-care activities and techniques.

With regular practice, mindfulness can support you in becoming more self-aware, recognise the challenges you are facing and learn how to respond in a helpful way. It can also help you to reconnect with and enjoy the everyday experiences we so often take for granted.

Our Mindfulness sessions are a regular offering from Epilepsy Ireland, and many of those who have attended have pointed to the positive impact of the practice in their journeys with epilepsy - as the quote below highlights:

I learnt to give myself self-love and be kind to my thoughts. I found this experience to be most helpful in my mind and I was able to know more about myself and got the strength to move forward in my life with my choices and not anybody else’s. I also felt it a very safe place and everyone on the group were lovely too and friendly.

We look forward to welcoming you to this term of Mindfulness sessions and we have provided further details below on registration. If you have any questions about this event, please contact Cliona by emailing cmolloy@epilepsy.ie.

WHO?

These sessions are for people with epilepsy and family members/carers of people with epilepsy who have previously engaged with their local Community Resource Officer (CRO). If you have not engaged with your CRO, you will be referred to them prior to joining this group. It is important that there has been previous engagement in order for us to best facilitate the experience for all attending this session. At particular points in a person's journey with epilepsy - whether through living with the condition or supporting a loved one - individual direct support from our team may be more appropriate rather than a group setting.

WHEN?

This is a six week programme beginning on the 17th January 2025, continuing on the 24th, 31st, 22nd, February 7th and concluding on the 14th. All events will take place on Fridays from 10:30am - 11:30am. We are asking attendees to commit to attending the full six week block in order to get a greater understanding of mindfulness and whether it makes an impact on their journeys with epilepsy.
