Louise’s Skydive for Epilepsy Ireland!

02 Oct 2024

On October 2nd Kerry woman Louise Daly will be taking to the skies to raise awareness of epilepsy and raise funds for Epilepsy Ireland.

Louise was diagnosed with epilepsy in 2012, and this year will celebrate the significant milestone of reaching 10 years seizure free. Throughout her journey with epilepsy, Louise has lent on the support services of Epilepsy Ireland as she has navigated her life with epilepsy – the ups and downs it can bring, and the many unseen impacts that the condition can have.

Speaking ahead of her jump, Louise said:

I’m excited about the jump and a little bit nervous - but knowing that I’m helping such an important cause helps keep the nerves at bay! I know firsthand the crucial supports that Epilepsy Ireland provide and time and time again over the past decade, I have linked in with my local Community Resource Officer to discuss challenges which may be arising in my life due to my epilepsy.

I know I’m not the only one who has depended on Epilepsy Ireland’s services – there are over 45,000 people living with epilepsy in Ireland – with an estimated 1,500 of those living in Kerry. I know I’m very lucky to reach the milestone of 10 years seizure free; being seizure free is something all people with epilepsy want, but not everyone will unfortunately see it. That’s why I felt it was important to use this milestone in my life to raise awareness and support others with the condition by supporting Epilepsy Ireland.

Louise will not be taking on the challenge in isolation – having recruited her two friends Louise Lally and Lorraine Crimmins to take the plunge alongside her, with Louise commenting:

I’m delighted to have the Louise and Lorraine joining me for the jump. Epilepsy is a condition that you cannot and should not face alone, and you need the support and understanding of family and friends – so it is only apt that I have the two girls alongside me for this challenge!

We would like to thank Louise, Louise L and Lorraine for their fantastic support for Epilepsy Ireland through their skydives. You can donate to their incredible efforts on their iDonate page via the button below!
