The sky was certainly is the limit for Louise Daly who recently jumped out of a plane to raise awareness and funds for Epilepsy Ireland.
Kerry-native Louise was diagnosed with epilepsy in 2012, and in November will celebrate the amazing milestone of being 10 years seizure free. Throughout her journey with epilepsy, Louise has relied on the support services of Epilepsy Ireland as she navigates her life with epilepsy – the ups and downs it can bring, and the many unseen impacts that the condition can have.
Speaking about why a she took on this challenge, Louise said:
I know firsthand the crucial supports that Epilepsy Ireland provide and time and time again over the past decade, I have linked in with my local Community Resource Officer to discuss challenges which may be arising in my life due to my epilepsy. I know I’m not the only one who has depended on Epilepsy Ireland’s services – there are over 45,000 people living with epilepsy in Ireland. I know I’m very lucky to reach the milestone of 10 years seizure free; being seizure free is something all people with epilepsy want, but not everyone will unfortunately see it. That’s why I felt it was important to use this milestone in my life to raise awareness and support others with the condition by supporting Epilepsy Ireland.
Louise didn’t face the challenge alone – she recruited her two pals Louise Lally and Lorraine Cribbons to take the plunge alongside her last week. Commenting on having Louise & Lorraine alongside her, Louise said:
I was delighted to have Louise and Lorraine joining me for the jump. Epilepsy is a condition that you cannot and should not face alone, and you need the support and understanding of family and friends – so it was only apt that I had the two girls alongside me for the dive!
