Epilepsy Ireland have issued an appeal to the people of Ireland to take part in their new 24-Hour Squat Challenge to raise funds for their services across the county and across the country.

The challenge has been launched to coincide with their biggest fundraising day of the year – Purple Day ® on March 26th. Participants are challenged to complete at least 24 squats per day from March 24th – 28th in recognition of the estimated 45,000 people who live with epilepsy across Ireland, 24 hours a day. Participants of all levels of fitness are welcome, you can set your own target and do a sumo squat or chair squat to suit your ability.

Speaking about the new challenge for Purple Day®, Epilepsy Ireland Fundraising & Development Manager, Cian Dikker said:

The 24-Hour Squat Challenge is a fantastic way for people to get involved, challenge themselves, and show their support for those living with epilepsy. Every squat and every donation will help to continue the work of our Community Resource Officer team across Ireland and ensure that Epilepsy Ireland can continue to invest in vital epilepsy research projects. Alongside this, every conversation about epilepsy sparked by this challenge helps to create a more informed and supportive society.

We encourage everyone—whether you have a personal connection to epilepsy or simply want to support a great cause—to take part. The challenge is fun, inclusive, and a great way to get moving while making a difference. We can’t wait to see people across Ireland joining the challenge to raise vital funds!

The challenge site is now live, and you can either sign up as an individual or get group together and sign up as a team – signing up couldn’t be easier by clicking the button below!

There are also other ways to get involved in Purple Day®, such as hosting a community event at work, home or school – or by making a vital donation to continue the work of Epilepsy Ireland. More information on this can be found by visiting the Purple Day® on our website.
