The Epilepsy Patient Portal has once again been featured in a leading medical journal, Epilepsy & Behaviour.
The Portal is better known now as PiSCES (Providing Individualised Services and Care for People with Epilepsy) and is linked to the Irish National Epilepsy Electronic Patient Record (EPR). PiSCES is being developed by researchers in the RCSI and FutureNeuro through Health Research Board grants, co-funded by Epilepsy Ireland . You can read more on that project by visiting the 'Research' section of our website.
The paper featured in Epilepsy & Behaviour disseminates feedback from users of the portal and once again highlights how the portal could become a pillar of the Irish epilepsy services for years to come.
The feedback is from both people with epilepsy and their healthcare professionals with researchers concluding that “Our data show that people with epilepsy, their care-proxies, and Health Care Professionals value PiSCES potential, particularly in bolstering healthcare partnerships that foster inclusion, confidence, and trust.”
With the research project coming to a conclusion, we want to congratulate all those involved to date and thank the Epilepsy Ireland members and service users who contributed to the study. The aim now will be to ensure that the Portal becomes embedded in epilepsy care in Ireland and grow the use of the portal in the years to come.
