As an organisation, we were delighted to recently have our “Improving Quality” (IQ) standard renewed – following an external assessment of our work, practices and impact.
Improving Quality is a quality system developed specifically for small to medium-sized Community and Voluntary Sector Organisations.
Epilepsy Ireland were first awarded the IQ standard in 2021, and the renewal of the standard will last until 2027. As part of the process, four elements are assessed in order to be approved for “Improving Quality”:
- Accountable – Good Governance, Leadership and management
- Welcoming – Involving Service users, managing and developing Staff and Volunteers, Equality and Diversity and working with others
- Effective – refers to the services that an organisations provides and the planning, delivery, monitoring and evaluation that the organisations carries out
- Sustainable – How the organisation manages, risk, money and the resources to make service delivery happen
We received an overwhelming positive report from IQ assessors, which highlighted the strength of our Governance policies and procedures; as well as the passion and enthusiasm of our staff and board to progress the strategic aims of our organisation.
One of the key strategic aims of our organisation is “Demonstrating the highest standards of governance and ensure the structures are in place to meet objectives.” The renewal of the IQ standard, as well as our continued retention of Charities Institute Ireland’s “Triple-Lock” status, shows our commitment to this aim.
