We have published our ‘Use of funds’ statement for 2020 which outlines for our members, service users, donors and the public how we raise and use our income at Epilepsy Ireland. You can read the Use of Funds statement in full by visiting the 'Governance' section of our website.
The statement is based on the audited accounts of the charity for 2020 and captures how our finances were impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. We experienced a 50% drop in fundraised income and a similar drop in earned income.
While the drop in fundraised and earned income was significant, the impact of this was largely offset by a one-off grant obtained under the Government's Stability Fund for charities. This funding, alongside our other state funding was pivotal in ensuring that we could continue to provide our services to people with epilepsy and their families.
Of every euro donated to Epilepsy Ireland in 2020, 88c was spent on direct charitable activities and 12c was spent on raising funds.
Your ongoing support has also helped our organisation stem the tide of the challenges which we have faced due to COVID-19 and we would like to sincerely thank everyone who supported our work throughout 2020 - a year which will live long in the memory.
While "normality" has yet to return, we do hope that brighter days are now closer than ever which will allow us to return to more traditional forms of fundraising and income generating aspects of our service. However, vital to the work we do across Ireland is your continued support. This is especially important given that our Stability funding ceased in June 2021.
Please consider supporting our work by visiting the 'Donate' section of our website.
Despite the continued challenges which have resulted from the pandemic, we remain focussed on our overall vision of achieving a society where no person's life is limited by epilepsy.
As always, should you require any advice or support with your or your family member's epilepsy, please do not hesitate to contact your local Community Resource Officer.
