To celebrate Brain Awareness Week, we are delighted to be teaming up with our colleagues in FutureNeuro for the latest iteration of our Epilepsy Research Matters event!
FutureNeuro is Research Ireland’s Centre for Translational Brain Science, with many of their world-leading researchers and research projects investigating epilepsy. One of Epilepsy Ireland’s key strategic aims is to work collaboratively to improve the care of people with epilepsy and knowledge of the condition and the key element of this aim is investing directly in epilepsy research, as well as promoting the importance of research within the epilepsy community. Since 2009, we have invested over €1.5 million in epilepsy research projects – many of which have been carried out by researchers working in FutureNeuro.
This in-person event taking place in the Royal College of Surgeons during Brain Awareness Week, and hosted by our patron and RTÉ Broadcaster, Rick O’Shea, will provide attendees with an insight into some of the incredible epilepsy research which is taking place right here in Ireland. While the agenda is still being finalised, we can confirm we will have inputs from researchers and clinicians on the development of an exciting new wearable devices which can provide 24/7 EEG readings; an update about the development of a new precision method in epilepsy surgery; details of how Epilepsy Ireland funded research projects are progressing and what they have achieved; as well as snapshots from FutureNeuro researchers on the exciting projects that they are working on. All this, and much more!
Confirmed speakers include Professor Norman Delanty, Beaumont Hospital and Principal Investigator at FutureNeuro, and Professor Mark Cunningham, Professor of Neurophysiology of Epilepsy at Trinity College Dublin – with many other leading experts and speakers to be confirmed.
In previous years, these research events which we have held with FutureNeuro have proven to be extremely popular so we are opening registration now and will update this page with the full agenda, speakers and topics as they are confirmed.
We hope you will be able to join us for this special event during Brain Awareness Week – further details on the event and how to register are included below.
